    i've forgotten one litle thing:

    if you like working submenus on screens bigger than 768px you have to change the "sidebar"-less-code in one line.

    have a look here

    // make sidebar nav vertical
    @media (min-width: 768px) {
    .sidebar-nav {
    .navbar {
    .navbar-collapse {
    padding: 0;
    max-height: none;
    }
    ul {
    float: none;
    display: block; <-- delete this line to get have the classic dropdown-look
    position: static; <-- add this line to get the "accordion" look

    Hi Tobi,

    this one helped me out.

    http://www.jonathanbriehl.com/2014/01/17/vertical-menu-for-bootstrap-3/

    Copy the CSS-Code into your navbar.less, don't forget to compile the css-code to less-code (e.g. http://www.css2less.net/)

    To get the menu on the left just put the "navbar" between the <!-- CONTENT --> container and the <!-- content --> container.

    To get a clue what i'm talking about, have a look here:

    <!-- CONTENT -->
    <div class="container">
    <div class="row">

    <!-- NAVBAR -->
    <div class="col-sm-3">
    <div class="sidebar-nav">

    <nav class="navbar navbar-default" role="navigation">

    (...)

    <!-- content -->
    <div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-8 col-md-8 col-lg-6">

    (...)
